The key thing that make my 2400 my laptop of choice it it's
usability, not it's speed. I can use my 2400 for things I can't use
any other PowerBook. It the perfect balance.

The 2400's size let me take it everywhere. I've been more likely to
forget my cell phone, my wallet, and ... just once ... my pants (Long
story, and it's not what you think) And because it lets me take it
everywhere, I always take it with me USEFULNESS = AVAILABILITY. If I
have to wait until I get back home, or to my office or hotel room to
do something that I need NOW, what's the point?

PCMCIA gives quite a bit of flexibility to add features as needed. I
can swap in a card for just about anything. I have an emergency
bootable Flash memory card with a full 9.1 install and Norton, a
SmartMedia adaptor to read my digital camera cards, a RoadRocket for
dual-heading, Cisco 4800 802.11b wireless newtork card to connect to
most of the networks I need to, and a Asant 10BaseT card for the
rest, Firewire card to work with my DVCam and my iPod and my hard
drives, a Psion modem for net access on the road, and a USB card for
the ... umm ... the ... err ... something .... USB ... thing ... OK I
don't use the USB card because I have ADB. There's a lot of
flexibility in there.

Yes the US market of mobile phones is fragmented all to heck, but my
phone has a nice IrDA port, and I can connect just about anywhere at
14.4kbps when I need to. It's slow, it's painful and expensive. but
it's there.

The 2400 is a durable sucker. At least 3 time I have tripped over a
poorly run power cable, yainking my still running 2400 3 feet onto a
concrete floor. Each time it just asked to have the card that were
just yainked out put back in. I'd like to see a TiBook take that kind
of abuse.

Portability. Once I do add all my cards and cables to get to have
everything, the setup takes as much room as a larger PowerBook, but
the best part is that I can leave everything I know I won't need at
home/in my car/at work/in my hotel room and be more mobile.

Currently I'm in the process of shooting a film on DVCam, and while
on the road, putting together rough edits on my 2400 every
night/early morning after shooting so that everyone working on the
project can see what got done. I've even put together some special
effects alreat on my 2400. Yes, a iBook and TiBook will kick my
2400's a**, but I wouldn't have been able to get some shots without
my 2400's small size and portability.
