Hi Tom,

yes:

> Global Village Platinum Pro Combo card

here we go: I just experienced the same (see this group). its the old GV
software (at least it was for my PB). go to:

http://www.globalvillage.com/support/Updated-enable-os9.html

I havent tried the new software yet but isolated the problem to GV software.

hope this helps.

PS: now I have a 20GB HD inside (although its just 9.5mm small...) and 8.6 and
9.1 installed. it works so far. by the way: iMovie is telling me that QuickTime
FireWire DV is not installed (its still QT 4.1.2 installed). I just have QT FW
DV Enabler and DV Update.

anyway. I am happy, that my PB is alive again and no finder crashes (within a
strange window!!!)

thanks for all your help and thoughts
