Here's an easy way to handle the mail while you're on trips. Even if you
don't have your computer with you.
Go to www.mail2web.com and follow the instructions for logging on. You'll be
able read your email from any terminal with internet access.  The usual
security precautions apply.

I keep separate email accounts for different mailing lists. Thus, if I need
to I just "Delete all" from mail2web without worrying about my personal
email getting deleted by mistake. It also relieves some of the security
concerns as these accounts can be killed without regret.
