if your computer has been properly upgraded for cardbus, the card you use 
will just show up on your desktop as an icon.  you can then plug your 
peripheral into the firewire plug, and load up the drivers for that device.  
it should work without a hitch.  i know that when my pismo lost use of the 
firewire built in, i ended up getting a firewire pc card adapter that has 
been working perfectly.
