Simon,

This is the video output of a Dock:

Dock
------

512Kb on board

640 x 480 = 256 colours
640 x 870 = 16 colours
800 x 600 = 256 colours
832 x 624 = 256 colours

Option for another 512Kb vram module to give it the same capacity as the
other two Docks.

Dock II / Dock Plus
---------------------

1Mb on board

640 x 480 = 32768 colours
640 x 870 = 256 colours
800 x 600 = 32768 colours
832 x 624 = 32768 colours
1024 x 768 = 256 colours
1152 x 870 = 256 colours

In both cases, you need 7.5.3 or a video card to use multiple scan monitors
at 832 x 624.

IMHO, the ideal solution is to get yourself a cheap NuBus video card on eBay
to get million of colours. They are around $10 to $15 depending on make and
model. However, if you get one, make sure the software drivers come with the
card if you buy a RasterOps. The Lowendmac website has plenty of info on
NuBus video and so has Gamba's site (www.lowendmac.com and
home.earthlink.net/~gamba2/).

Regarding the 9.5 TFT screen, I saw the eBay auction as well, but at $125 +
postage + possible customs duty fees, this was not an option for me. Buying
a working 2300 on eBay would cost less!

Finally, thanks to everyone who helped on my hard drive kit for the Dock. In
the end, I found someone who had one for sale. Now that I have it, this is
indeed the best solution insofar as the scsi cable is prefolded and the
perfect length.
