This is useful for UK or European list members only. It is the result of a lot of work trying to find out about Duo main batteries and backup batteries. 1) Main batteries a- Rebuilding them It was hard to find a UK supplier. Most professional battery suppliers want to do the rebuild for you but very few agree to sell the cells for some reason. Anyway, the cheapest source for the 4/5A tagged cells is from Cell Pack Solutions in Tyne and Wear (ask for Eddie). The price is 3.20 UK pounds + VAT per cell + shipping. Company 1 is Cell Pack Solutions. They'll rebuild your Duo battery for 35 UK pounds + VAT, using 2000 mAh cells. Company 2 is called County Battery Services Ltd. They'll rebuild your battery using Sanyo 2150 mAh cells for �50 including VAT. This makes it 9 UK pounds dearer than Cell Pack but the cells have got a higher rating. They can also do a rebuilt using 1400 mAh cells (like a Type II from Apple) for �35 including VAT. Apple parts are 630-6546 for the Duo 200 series and 922-1418 for the Duo 2300. Both are interchangeable. The batteries themselves are lithium rechargeable, 6V 50mAh, coin cells stacked with wire and 3 pin connector. The cell themselves are VL2330 used with the Duo 200 and CR2430 for the Duo 2300. The later is much more common nowadays. a- Buying new Various options, but the only place with some in stock and at the lowest price is VIS (aka Apple Mac Parts) for 15 UK pounds + VAT + shipping. If you feel confident enough you can remove the backup battery from your Duo, send it to Cell Pack Solutions and they will rebuild it with two CR2430 cells for 4.95 UK pounds + VAT + postage. For US members, if a UK company is willing to rebuild the backup battery, perhaps a US company can do the same? This is perhaps a new avenue to research.
