In order for the Mac OS to differentiate between two cards (like my Wireless card & my LAN/Modem, both 'ethernet' type cards) Each card has a different name. My Farallon is named 'Alternate Ethernet' and my Orinoco is 'Ethernet Slot 0'. So ... 'Alternate Ethernet' is the ethernet card. 9.1 from a G4 isn't the problem either. I use 8.6 from my G3 B&W.. no prob. What is your router? Do you have one? How do you connect to the DSL modem? Straight from the modem, or through a hub/router? As far as getting internet service through the DSL, you don't need AppleTalk. TCP/IP (Traffic Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) is all you need to get web/ftp/email/etc. Using OS9 (on both) you should be able to transfer files, too (using AppleShare over TCP/IP) Brain Fart... There's more, but I can't recall it just now. Hope that helps. -Andy ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables.
