But on a more realistic note, here's my two cents: --- Even a stock 2400c is a much better computer than any Duo. If you have a lot of legacy peripherals, you'll find out it is like a Swiss army knife: it can handle SCSI, serial and ADB just as well as the newest USB and Firewire, provided you have the CardBus upgrade. --- Some 2400c parts may be hard to come by and expensive (G3 processor upgrade, batteries, PRAM batteries...), and it's a bear to take apart. But if weight is a concern, it's the lightest Apple computer ever. And the people on this list are an invaluable resource. --- I have been very lucky with my now two 2400c's: the most stable computers I've ever had, even with 5-6 hours of daily usage they don't crash in weeks and sometimes in months. Both are second-hand but their former owners treated them with white gloves, they look great, one wasn't terribly expensive, and I got the other for free. Who could ask for anything more? --- The new iBook is much faster than any G3-upgraded 2400c and not much bigger, only that your software and peripherals like printers should be MacOS 9.2 compatible at least. That's the only "but". If you want to draw a clean slate and/or use MacOS X, this is clearly the way to go. --- Then again, if you can find a "CardBussed 2400/G3-320(Interware)/80MB/6GB and lots of quality accessories for only $565..." like someone on this list did, well... Spring for it! You'll never regret it.
