NewWorld Macs use a reduced ROM which can be modified by software updaters.
The additional code is provided in the OS ROM residing in the System Folder
(like a big Enabler). The ROM containing the special code of Open Firmware
loads the key startup instructions which do not provide for a PC card search
at bootup.

CD, FireWire, USB--otherwise you're out of luck.
