NewWorld Macs use a reduced ROM which can be modified by software updaters. The additional code is provided in the OS ROM residing in the System Folder (like a big Enabler). The ROM containing the special code of Open Firmware loads the key startup instructions which do not provide for a PC card search at bootup. > > Rats.
