I am running 8.1 on a 280C and have had no problems with the internal 14.4 modem. It would be recognized through Free PPP and would dial up. Have since reinstalled 8.1 due to some unbrelated problems and now Free PPP, or any other for that matter, will not recognize the modem during the initialization procedure. It will find the modem but that is as far as it will go. Have tried system 7.5 with the same results so I don't believe it has anything to do with the actual system version, but rather something I have not turned on or off or reinstalled. Have tried all of the modem settings in the modem control panel and have ensured that it is using the internal modem setting rather than external. Still only finds the modem but is not able to initialize or generic initialize. Anybody have a suggestion?
