As a general rule of thumb, you cannot boot a cardbussed 2400c with a
cardbus PCMCIA card inserted, be it the RATOC Firewire, MacAlly USB,
Asante 10/100BT, or other. You may get away with it one time or two, but
eventually you'll run into problems. The solution many listers have
adopted is write a short AppleScript that ejects the cardbus card if
present, and put it in the shutdown items folder.

Early adopters of MacOS X on the 2400c have also pointed out that this
problem disapperars under MacOS X. My guess is that the
non-cardbus-compliant code in the 2400c ROM is bypassed on the MacOS X
boot process.
