I have 4 Type 3 batteries that are dead (all causes the Duo to shut down if
inserted after power up, and gives red light on external chargers) and I'd
like to know if there's any last resort tricks to revive these batteries? I
only have one good Duo battery left (still holds 2-3 hours on full charge)
and I'm not going to shell out over $50 on eBay for a mystery battery. ;)

If not I can put them to creative uses. For one, I could pick up a few D
cell holders from Radio Shack and some rechargeable NiMH "D" sized
batteries. I've seen them hold upward of 5-6,000 mAh so theorically I could
go half a day or longer on one custom battery pack. Or I could take the
easy way and pick up 10x "AA" batteries and shoehorn them into a Type 3 case
(IIRC Type 1 used 10 "AA" batteries) "AA" batteries are far easier to find
and usually cheaper than 4/5 A the Type 3 uses.
