I saw this post at the xlr8yourmac.com site today. Wish I'd thought of it!

" Just thought I'd let you know, I made a copy of the OSX QT 5 app 
somewhere else on my computer (I have a pro license) and then installed 
QT 6. Whenever I need the pro features of quicktime 5, I simply launch 
the QT 5 app. when I need 6, I can use it. btw, now, with all the special 
stuff of 6, including mpeg4 in the system, I can actually save with those 
codecs in the Quictime 5 app. Installing 6 does not remove your Quicktime 
5 pro license. Nice thing to know, eh? JSD "

Don't know if the same is true for the PPC versions. I figure it ought to 
be, but I haven't tried it out myself.
