I just got a 2300c. OS 8.1, 36megs of RAM, a 2 gig hard-drive. It has a screen from a 280c. It has two ports that look like printer/modem ports, instead of the printer/modem and phone line port. It came with a weird little external modem that looked like an adaptor. (I installed GV 56k/external). Flawless screen, great, firm keyboard, great trackpad.
These are the questions: It runs incredibly hot at the power-cord entry, even when it is asleep. When it is running, it is too hot to hold on the lap, or to touch, and the cursor freezes (too hot?) Why is it hot, and what can I do? Battery is dead, and it must need a PRAM battry because it won't hold time/settings when I disconnect the power. I can't zap the PRAM because it won't boot when I hold in the command keys to do that. What do you suggest? When I plug in the power cord, I get the start-up chime, but machine doesn't boot - it boots when I push the power-on key: what's with that? The Duo list got me through meeting my Duo 280c, and got me hooked on these things. Could you help me get this beauty running better? Thanks in advance!
