My 280c modem is acting up. Upon connection, it will identify the modem
and dial the server number there is the usual static interaction but that
is as far as it goes. After a while, a message will pop up that "a
connection was established but it was not a reliable connection and was
terminated". Sometimes it will ask for my password but will eventually give
the same results. My desktop mac and my PC will both hook up with no
problems so it seems that there is no problem with the lines or the
provider. I was told by the provider tech that "the modems in those old
macs die after a while". Is this true, is my modem shot? Tried a backup
14.4 internal modem with even worse results.
