The MacSense MPC100 is the only 16-bit card that I know of that offers
100Base-T with Mac drivers, thereby making it a good choice if you need
fast Ethernet and don't have Cardbus. If you have Cardbus, the MPC200
might be a better choice (and there might be options from other
manufacturers as well -- keep reading for an example).

Farallon is still around, as Proxim, and they still sell the venerable
PN595A it seems -- at least it's listed on their site, and drivers are
readily available. They also have it in their online store at what I
think is a ludicrous price ($111), but vendors may have it for cheaper
(search "ethermac" at pricegrabber.com or shopper.cnet.com).
http://www.proxim.com/products/all/maccard/pn595/index.html

If you want to go into the realm of the inexpensive and unsupported, and
you have Cardbus capability, you can buy the CompUSA house brand 10/100
card for $20 (!), and download Mac OS 8/9 (or X) drivers for it from
Realtek, who manufactures the chipset inside the card. The URL is (get
ready):
http://www.realtek.com.tw/htm/download/driver.asp?class1=communication&mode
l=RTL8139(A/B/C/D/8130)/810X%20Family
(You can also navigate there from http://www.realtek.com.tw in the
downloads section; you want the driver for the 8139 chipset.)

The major disadvantage to this that the 8/9 driver doesn't support
hot-swapping, meaning the card must be present at startup. If you're
using a Cardbus-enabled 2400/3400/G3, you may know that Mac OS 9.x
freezes at startup if there's a Cardbus card present. The workaround that
I use is to use Mac OS 8.6 instead (though I have added some components
from 9, such as the newer FireWire extensions).

Other cards use the Realtek 8139 chipset and should work equivalently,
with the same drivers. In particular, the Asante Cardbus 10/100 card
appears to be identical to the CompUSA card; their drivers are barely
redressed versions of the Realtek drivers, and the 8/9 version has the
same required-at-startup issue. In fact, I was able to use their 8/9
driver with CompUSA card without issue. I can't speak for the MacSense.

Ivan.
