Debian. http://www.mac.linux-m68k.org I believe is the page I was using. 
It's a bit out of date now, but still works. With my networkable computers 
(Quadra 840AV, LC475 with full '040) it can be kept up to date.

I was always told the same thing, it wouldn't work on an LC040. One day I 
got bored and thought I'd try it on my 280c, and low and behold it worked.
