The drive is identified by two numbers - first the SCSI bus it is on ie 
the internal SCSI connector - external SCSI connector or SCSI card 
installed in NuBus or PCI slot (changed only by physical connecting 
device to different bus) AND second the SCSI ID# of the device itself 
-set by jumper and/or switch on the drive itself or external case 
whichever is applicable. This (in theory does not always work in 
practice) allows multiple devices to have SCSI ID #1 for example because 
they are on different buses ie SCSI bus 0 & 1 or 1 &  2, etc.
