Agree with other assessments posted so far regarding power supply. Have had similar problems with monitors in dusty environments. Easy fix by opening and blasting with compressed air. Probably not the case here if you swapped out a monitor from outside of the customer's location. Also might look for non Apple or multiple screen saver/energy saver softwares. Probably not the case either if you hear the pop. Check the power cords.
