This seems to be a (the?) common failure mode for a Type 3. Type 1's and 2's
seem to behave the way you would "expect" a battery to- take a minimal
charge, even if it's not enough to even get the startup chime. Type 3's
become useless bricks.

Interestingly, I was recently pleasantly surprised to have a Type 3 which
was behaving this way recover after putting it in an external charger. At
present, it gets about 90% of the life of my "good" Type 3.

That was with the Apple charger. I have someone sending me three dead Type
3's to see how they do with my newly-acquired Lind SuperCharger II. We're
curious to see if I was just lucky or if some Type 3's can come back from
the dead.

Out of curiousity, I wonder what is "different" about a Type 3? The one
X-Ray I saw on a Japanese site showed that the cells were in a different
physical configuration. Something must explain the difference in behavior,
though...
