This could be a failing backlight, I used to work for a company that
repaired notebooks, often the failing backlight tubes would shine pink
rather than white, I am no chemist, but I would guess that the
phosphors in the tube break down after time.
(I have also seen a similar thing with domestic fluorescent tubes)
