The problem lies with Compuserve software. It lies dormant (but works) on my
2400 & G4-Ti but you need to make sure Compuserve Dialer, CompuServe PPP
CompuServe TCPack are all in and from same software install. It's more
likely you need to use v.2.4.4 Classic because that's the only one I know
that works w/Apple OS up to OS9.x due to authentication issues. Save
yourself days of hassle and chase 244 down w/Compuserve first. Also lengthen
the time you allow for the modem to complete the handshake protocol to at
least 20 sec. Don't ask me more because I run Compuserve only for its
worldwide local access ISP over other software (and it's the my only spammed
email address)--but 244 does work.
