Some days ago, I asked a question about how to backup/restore mac
OS from usenet but got no response. I tried to download a trial
Tri-backup 3.12 to do this.
I have a PB2400 installed with OS X 10.1.5, then I need to re-partition
the HD in order to run the PaperPort Strobe (which supports only up to
OS 8.1). So I used the DiskCopy 6.3.3 to make the OS X volume as a
read-only image.
After I repartition and installed OS 8.1, 9.1. I boot from 9.1 and
mount the OSX.img. Then use the Tri-backup to copy from OSX.img to
a partition (a newly initialized one, Tri-backup saids it has 6 files
and 8MB total). Here is the result:
Started at 19:03:34 End at 19:53:54
Original has 1369MB for 50301 files
Target disk 1235MB, for 50271 files
50271 files created
Then I use the XPostFacto 2.2.3 to boot it, it shows the big grey Apple
in the light grey background and the spinning cursor. After a while, it
changes to text mode and says:
/etc/master.passwd: Not a directory
#
Then, it seems its in single user mode. I can shutdown.
Anyone know the crew to restore the .img into a working OS 10.1.5 ?
Thanks in advance.
