Thanks for the info Joel.
I do have another expired 2400c which I can use for parts - but which parts to use?!?
I was wondering if a faulty connection on the I/O board could be causing the PRAM failure? 2400c's tend to get quite hot, maybe the solder gets weak over time? I'm sort of clutching at straws now....

George,
Only thing I can offer is that my failing 2400, when it does boot, boots immediately on connecting the power supply. I haven't gotten it to do that regularly enough to see if it holds the time and such.
I guess that's not too much help, but I'm offering empathy, anyway.

I'm having problems with the PRAM on my 2400c. I got the machine from an ebay auction and the problem was there right from the start - the seller has recently confirmed that it was the case when he owned the powerbook, but could offer no solution - other than change the PRAM battery, which I have already tried. The current (new) battery has a full charge & voltage of 3.8v
It is supposed to be possible to put the machine in sleep mode and then change the battery or connect the power supply - then come out of sleep without losing current settings, data or open windows - but at the moment as soon as the power supply is connected - or a battery is inserted, the machine chimes and boots (without me pressing the start key) with all settings and data lost . I've done a search on the web and can find noting about this.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
George
