> I have a Duo Dock II and I'd like to add a real SCSI port, DB-25. In truth the DB-25 port on old Macs and Amigas was never a "real" SCSI port; it was an unfortunate hack by Apple before the SCSI standard was fully formed. If you want to replace the HDI-30 connector with something more standard, an HD-50 connector might be a better choice. But if you only have existing equipment and cables that use the DB-25 connector and just want something better than a T or L shaped adaptor, see if you can find one of the short locking cables that shipped with the Asante "Mini" EN/SC SCSI-Ethernet interface. I used one of those with a DuoDock and a SCSI Microdock with great success, and they seem to be surprisingly available (separate from the Mini EN/SC even). I don't think the same unique cablet ever shipped with the regular big ol' EN/SC or the ADB-powered "Micro" model.
Your hardware project could work, but successfully wiring your own SCSI cables and connectors is very tricky, and the evil black magic you'll incur if things aren't grounded just so probably isn't worth the trouble. ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
