My 2400c PRAM failure quest continues.
I've taken the machine to pieces and a week later re-assembled it. Someone suggested this might fix things, but no.

I've also tried other Motherboards and an I/O board - still the same problem.

Fianlly I've found the following info on the 2400c website (http://webobjects.uwaterloo.ca/mac2400/index2.html) :

As a learning experience from PRAM battery failure and resulting inability to swap batteries without being plugged into AC, Dave offers this nugget of info:

"...I then called MCE, who quickly informed me that the I/O board on 2400c computers has a fuse that, when blown, will prevent charging of the PRAM battery and eventually, of the main battery. It's about a $150.00 fix (if done by DT&T)." (Dave Fleishman/DuoList/20 Feb 2001) .............(or $90 from Paul Vail, After Hours Consulting, rpm)

Does anyone know at which location this fuse is?
Any info grateful received.

George

I'm having problems with the PRAM on my 2400c. I got the machine from an ebay auction and the problem was there right from the start - the seller has recently confirmed that it was the case when he owned the powerbook, but could offer no solution - other than change the PRAM battery, which I have already tried. The current (new) battery has a full charge & voltage of 3.8v

It is supposed to be possible to put the machine in sleep mode and then change the battery or connect the power supply - then come out of sleep without losing current settings, data or open windows - but at the moment as soon as the power supply is connected - or a battery is inserted, the machine chimes and boots (without me pressing the start key) with all settings and data lost . I've done a search on the web and can find noting about this.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

George
