A quick search on Google might turn up a temporary fix. I know I saw one about 18months ago when I had the problem. I ended up getting a new DuoDock, not because the fix was hard but because I saw a stack of DuoDocks with "free" on them.

Hi, All,
Last night after shutting down my 2300 while was in the Dock, I heard a
ticking noise. Investigation led me to discover that:
1) I couldn't turn the machine on again either by the keyboard or by the
button on the rear, and
2) the ticking did not instantly stop when I unplugged the Dock, in fact
it sort of 'wound down', like a powered off motor. By using the manual
release on the side I could get the Book out and it booted up fine. But I
need the Dock to work to be able to move files to and from the Book.
Any words of advise? Thanks.
