It is my understanding that the modem port in the Duo Dock is a
pass-through modem, an "extension," to use your word, that requires a
modem in the Duo to be present (and functioning).

The hack I'd like to work out is onboard ethernet. Is there an
ethernet controller on the Duo's logic board? The hardware manual
mentions ethernet support for developers, but I don't know what that
means (yet). I was amazed to find a SCSI hack on a Web site.
