Dear List, I have a 270, 2300, and a 1400. Now and then the top half of the 1400 screen will be marked by horizontal lines every 2 centimeters or so. Yesterday it went from this to a normal screen, then the backlight died, then in a couple of minutes the screen went totally black. I tried turning it off and on a few times. I would hear the startup chimes, then hear the hard drive working, but the screen stayed totally black.
I've seen articles in this list about this event, including info on fuses - where they are on the circuit board, where to get replacements. But - is it a blown fuse, or something else? I do electronics repair on musical instrument amplifiers and effects so the soldering won't be the problem. My lack of knowledge about these computers is the problem. I need all the info I can get about this computer, why this happened, how to fix it. I'm guessing there are some pretty important things to watch out for while taking it apart, so I don't do irreparable damage.
