I am not sure if the full dock allows for this, but the Mini Dock does, as do a couple of Micro Docks. This is accomplished through the SCSI connector and appropiate cable to an external SCSI CD unit.
The Duo Dock has a PowerBook SCSI connector on the back. With a PowerBook SCSI cable you can indeed connect an external SCSI CD-ROM drive (or ZIP, etc.).
