I replace my HD with a 10 gig from an iBook I set 2 equal partitions and was still able to get into SCSI disk mode. I know it wasn't supposed to work but is does. I don't know if this is a fluke or what. I don't use the SCSI disk mode much maybe only once or twice since i got my 2400 back in 97'.

hi
if you intend to ever use scsi disk mode to hoook the 2400 up to a Mac
desktop as a external drive you can not use a drive bigger than 4 gb.
Some folks found 4.3 gb ibm drives would not even work... massive data loss
may occour. ymmv

one can find 4 gb apple branded drives on ebay

better to blow off scsi disk mode and gett a bigger drive.
a 5400 rpm may be generating too much heat so I would shy away from that
Again ymmv

I used a 10 gb from a newer powerbook that I put a larger drive into.

Look on Dealmac.com
there was a 5400 60gb drive for $135
that would be outrageous !! MAybe Hot would be the word.
