Grinding is bad news, perhaps a new hard drive is
in order.
Is it really worth the expense, You could
always remove the hard drive and try using it as an external with another
system. See if it will load as a secondary.. If it does indeed load you
should be able to access and remove your files and or try to repair the drive,
if nothing else at least format and install a new system. If nothing
happens and the files are really not worth the time, trouble and expense, trash
the drive and either get a replacement for the book or sell the book with out a
drive or as parts.
If you really want a working 280c then pop over to
eBay and take a look around there is currently a 280c with both full and mini
docks 10T port and oh yes a floppy 5 days left and currently going for
less that 20 bucks.
