It's been a while, but scsi disk mode is triggered by the type of scsi
cable/adapter plugged into the PowerBook. Mine all had switches on
them, but I believe if not, then you need a non disk mode adapter.

How do I get it to boot off the CD-ROM? I have an OS 8.1 system
software disk I am using, I just can't get it to boot off the CD-ROM.
