A weight saving device is usually a hollow or lightweight piece of plastic that can
fit in the media bay, etc. It saves a lot of space.

Technically if you took out both devices in both media bays and replaced them with
weight saving devices, it might be possible to trim off some of the weight from the
initial 5.9 pounds. I don't know that removing the battery and cd/dvd-rom drive would
be enough to get it down to 4.4 pounds. Even if you could, the Lombard has more bulk
and heft to it, so it probably wouldn't "feel" as light as a 2400. But even so,
without at least one battery, the lombard wouldn't be particularly useful.
