Just got a new hdi29/db25 cable from the powerbookguy so I could connect directly to my Syquest ezflyer 230. I have been using a hdi29/50 pin to an external LaCie 24x CD and then a 50/25 cable to the Syquest, no problemo but don't want to have to carry around the CD player to have access to my ezflyer cartridges. The problem is that the new cable will not recognize the drive. I've tried everything I can think of, rebuilding desktop, zapping p-ram, Norton says OK, Disk First Aid says OK but the Silverlining Lite control panel reports unknown device (Scsi ID 4 is the default) and when I put in a cartridge it asks if I want to erase it, "possibly damaged". (I don't have any blank disks or I would have tried that to see what happens.) The Syquest has automatic termination sensing. If I put the cd after the syquest it will not load any disks. The cd has a termination switch which I set to on when at the end of the chain. (Normally set to off in my original setup and scsi ID set to 5.) I tried setting the syquest ID to 6 and the control panel didn't show anything. Silverling also crashes. When I hook everything back up to the original configuration without the new cable it all works perfectly. Is there an issue with hdi29/db25 cables or did I get a dud? Anyone have similar setups? Any input would be greatly appreciated. OS 8.1, SCSI Manager 4.3 TIA, Andy ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables.
