I disagree.  In 8.6, the system software was altered to give free 
processor cycles to the "Idle" process.  This is what cuts the CPU 
operating temp and thus saves battery power.  I did not change my 
work at all - same usage patterns under 8.5.1 and 8.6 - and my 
machine generally runs 9 degrees C cooler under 8.6 than under 8.5.1.

I noticed immediately that my screen had returned to 1/2 brightness - 
one of the first things I did was return it to its maximum setting.
