Hi,

Could some one enlighten me.
I have a 2300c that I just installed 8.6 on. The computer works
normally when connected to its mini dock, with the exception of having to
open the Global Village control panel to set the configure select to the
normal position each time I use the external modem, which is most of the
time. The real problem starts undocked. The apple modem control panel will
not recognize the 2300's combined serial port. I'll either not have a port
selection, or it will give me the choice between internal, or modem port.
Not printer/modem port which is normal undocked. I've done all of the normal
maneuvers to try to remedy this problem such as,selecting normal in the
config as I stated above, resetting pram, deleting preferences, turning off
apple talk, gone as far as removing the GV modem control panel/extensions,
rebuilding the desktop, so on. Is there a quirk in 8.6 with respect to the
2300 or am I missing something. I didn't have this problem with my 3400
(also with a combined printer/modem port). Could it have something to do
with the global village software. I'm using version 2.5.5. Then again the
problem exists even when I remove the software from the system.
I've always been able to resolve this problem with the duo's in earlier
systems but not this time.

Perplexed;
Dean.

P.S.
Even though the control panel lets me choose between internal, and modem
port. It will not connect, tells me that port is in use.
