I've had some problems with my ethernet card in both slots, and I've found
that the problem usually tends to be the card not seating itself in the
slot properly. The easiest way I've found to make sure it's in right is to
start up, then insert the card(w/dongle attached) then hit the card eject
button. Then, push the card back in.
I don't know if this is your problem, but I've had this happen with a modem
as well so it might be useful to someone...
