Actually, I don't think that's true. All the heat sink equipment is on the
bottom, and the two hottest parts (hard drive and CPU) are specifically
attached to that on their bottoms. The primary area for heat dissipation
(by far) is the bottom top-centre and bottom-lower-left, and this is why
the machine gets so much hotter when it's on a cushion or a lap (and why I
almost never use it as a "laptop", unlike past Duos). You can see the
design for convection in the little stubby feet and the concave curve of
the base.
Some heat will necessarily rise through the keyboard, and this Powerbook
model indeed isn't designed well to dissipate it while closed.
