Eight months???!!!??? You should insist that Apple compensate you by extending your warranty (by eight months or more if your machine is completely inoperable). If you were in the U.S. I would advise you to bring (or at least threaten to bring) legal action. U.S. statutues regarding warranties make reasonable allowances for time when repair parts are unavailable, but is it really reasonable to expect someone to wait for eight months to get a part in?
