No such luck! I don't know about earlier versions, but Communicator 4.6 
(and to my knowledge all the 4.xx versions) definitely have the default 
setting of retaining all cache files in the cache folder in the 
preferences folder. And the storage is cumulative - after a few sessions 
you may well arrive at some 20 or more MB. All you can do is delete these 
files ("manually" or by employing applications such as "Cache Killer") or 
set the cache in the Netscape preferences to a low value - which again 
impedes good performance during a session.
I still prefer Netscape to IE, but this is certainly a drawback. Not to 
speak of the RAM Cache management which in my experience is a source of 
problems and cannot be manipulated with the Mac versions of Netscape.
