Not to gloat, but I just spent 2 hours putting in the Newer G3 I got off of Buy.com recently. Thanks to an excellent walk-thru off of the Acellerate web site (Kevin somebody, thanks.) it wasn't too dificult. I had done the 210-2300 upgrade several times so I thought I could pull it off. During the process I noted the following:

The 2400 plastic case sure is flimsy.
There is no magnesium substructure like the duo had, just a partial one that joined with a PLASTIC frame.
At least 4 screws were simply loose.
2 of the4 daughterboard screws had come off alltogether and were rolling around loose in the case. I had no idea of that, having never heard them. I guess the hot/cold cycling of the daughterboard will work those puppies lose after a while.
Conclusion is that I'm glad I'll never be tempted to buy an IBM laptop.

The upgrade is a nice boost but not overwhelming. Cyberdog browser windows open immediately and things feel crisper. I've yet to test VPC but I have my fingers crossed.

It's been on for nearly 40 minutes on the AC and so far my bare leg isn't blistered yet. Not actually that much warmer so far. . .
