keyboard in the duos are notorious for losing their touch, not working, so 
don't be too alarmed.  getting a new duo keyboard would be my recommendation, 
and NO you cannot interchange keyboards from other models without some 
serious maneuverings.
if you have a friend with a duo, and they are willing to have to swap them 
just to see if that is the problem, that would be my first step.
that way, you'll know what the problem is and be able to respond accordingly.
