Simple answer is no.  It turns out to be a ROM
problem.
If you open your 2400 up, you'll notice a space on the
motherboard to solder a second MB of VRAM.  One of the
Japanese web sights had a picture of a the 2400 with
the second MB soldered on, but it did not work.
