Hey everyone, Well, my 2400 has been back in my hands for about 8 days now, after service by DT&T. Brief summary: I thought my PRAM battery was toast. All indications were that it was not holding a charge - Occasional startup, but no settings retained, then long time to charge w/o main battery and would startup again, crash when a system call to PRAM data was made. I was upset that Apple would not make any information available about the PRAM battery, and would not sell one even to a service provider. I'm still of the opinion that this is very bad policy, particularly given their labor rates to replace the battery (mine was already disassembled, which by the way, I did find tedious, but not overly intimidating). In the end, I found two things: DT&T does have PRAM batteries available (thanks Corina!) My 'book was more sick than I thought - they replaced the processor daughtercard. The good news: DT&T provided excellent, prompt service. My 2400 got to them on Monday, and they shipped it back out to me Monday afternoon. Total cost: Processor card exchange: $95.00 Labor: $30.00 Shipping (2nd day): $25.00 Total: $150.00 The machine was very well re-assembled, with a missing screw replaced, everything tight etc. It has worked flawlessly since, with over 95 hrs logged and not a single freeze/crash or unexpected application quit. I really can't think of how DT&T could have done a better job, and the price was extremely reasonable. ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
