You should be fine. Usually the issue is with drives that are too THICK, not too thin. There is still contact along the two lengths of the drive with the stiffener, and the copper metal shielding still sits over the drive (though may not be flush against it - shouldn't matter). You may need new mounting brackets though, since hard drives often have their mounting holes in different locations on their sides. Personally, I didn't bother with new brackets - I just placed the drive into the chassis between the mounting brackets, and once I screwed the mounting brackets into the stiffener, it was "tight" enough to hold the drive in place anyway, without actually having any screws go into the drive. Also, the copper shielding over the top still covers it... Hope that made sense - lemme know if you have any more help... Later!
