I used my 2400 for a full year as my desktop machine at work (it was
that or work on a PeeCee) In the beginning I sat it on an external
LaCie hard drive with a good solid metal case and the temperature ran
130-134. I never slept it, rarely let the drive spin down for 9 hours
a day. (I did not run it with the lid closed though.) Then when
things started getting stolen from the office (namely my CD player!)
I took my external drive home and just sat it on the desk, around the
same time I put it into a WetSuit. I was originally worried about the
temperature in the suit, it went up to 145. It never shut down on my
at those temperatures, but then I did have the case open and it
sitting on the desk, which would get warm underneath.

It did, however, get the, "sorry wont startup you better send me in" syndrome:(

PS Anybody know if you can fit the iBook innards into my 2400 case:)
