Had the same problem. Blown foils in the screen end of the ribbon cable.
Pressure on the case fixed temporarily. Problem got worse - larger area of
display went sour, to the point of illegibility. You might try to run
tech-tool pro on the VRAM, which has cleared up a garbled display for me in
the past, but the problem is more likely the ribbon cable. Unless you are a
real god with this microsoldering, you're looking at a new screen. The
cable is soldered onto the screen, and any repair you make to the cable has
to be flexible.
