How many other people are pissed at NewerTech for their terrible track record of suddenly, without warning, stopping production on upgrade cards for PowerBooks, thereby making whole series obsolete. I had plans on installing the 167Mhz or 183Mhz card in my PB540c, and they simply discontinued making them. They make a GREAT product; I have a G3/300Mhz card in my desktop and had a 117Mhz in the PB520c, which I just sold. But the entire company seems to have their collective heads up their butts when it comes to serving consumers needs and providing enough product for the customer base. It is almost like it is a conspiracy, that PowerBook owners must buy new models, instead of upgrading perfectly good ones they already own. NewerTech tantilizes you with a high-priced product, which they produce in a limited quantity and JUST when the price starts to come down to where you are tempted to buy it, they discontinue production! I really HATE this company. The post came back as mailbox full-unable to deliver -so I tried again -and again. I was under the impression that it had never gotten through -until I received my List this morning. If PRAM batteries are impossible to find for the PB2400c, then let me ask -generally, how long has it been the owners of this machines experience that the PRAM batteries will last? Generally, the max I have ever had a PB PRAM battery last is about 3 years. Can anyone give me feedback on the average life of a PRAM battery in this machine. I lucked out on an old LCII once and had the original battery last over 5 years! But those were EASY to replace and plentiful, to boot. Opening this machine up is such a PITA, I would like to do it only once. -- Drew ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables.
