I belabor the obvious only cause you didn't mention it, but check to see if Ethernet in selectable in your Appletalk Control Panel. I don't know GV software, but they might have named your ethernet connection something else besides "Ethernet"
Then there's the issue of what type ADSL you have. Bellsouth will only connect to one specific hardware address that's set up by the Mac ignorant tech that installs it. If that's the case you'll have great difficulty networking thru it to your Powerbook.
